Position Overview
As a Lifeguard at Pikes Peak Athletics, you play a critical role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. From first-time swim lesson participants to competitive athletes, your attentiveness and professionalism help ensure every person can train and learn safely.
This role combines safety, facility operations, teamwork, and customer service. Lifeguards are often one of the most visible members of our team and help create a positive experience for every family who walks through our doors.
Qualifications
Minimum 16 years of age
American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguard Certification required
High school diploma, GED, or currently working toward completion
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain focus for extended periods
Commitment to safety and continuous learning
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Primary Responsibilities
Safety
Ensure the safety of all patrons throughout the facility
Identify, correct, or report safety concerns immediately
Actively lifeguard and respond appropriately to emergencies
Enforce facility policies and procedures
Participate in required in-service and safety trainings
Facility Operations
Monitor and record pool chemistry as assigned
Help maintain safe and clean pool, deck, locker room, gym, and common areas
Assist with event, rental, and program setup as needed
Maintain organized workspaces and storage areas
Facility Care
Assist with building cleanliness and presentation
Conduct regular locker room and restroom checks
Complete cleaning assignments as directed
Support overall facility operations

Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to enter the water quickly and perform emergency rescues
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments as needed

Position Overview
As a Swim Instructor at Pikes Peak Athletics, you help children develop confidence, learn life-saving water safety skills, and progress through swimming fundamentals in a positive and encouraging environment.
This role combines teaching, leadership, communication, and mentorship. Swim Instructors serve as role models for swimmers and help create an exceptional experience for children and families. Whether teaching a first-time swimmer or helping a student master new skills, instructors play an important role in helping each swimmer achieve success in and around the water.
Qualifications
Minimum 16 years of age
High school diploma, GED, or currently working toward completion
Minimum one year of swim instruction experience required
Competitive swimming experience preferred
Ability to swim all four competitive strokes, tread water, perform flip turns, and dive
Current American Red Cross CPR Certification preferred
CPR Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not currently certified
Demonstrate willingness to learn and commitment to professional growth
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Reliable transportation to Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center

Scheduling Requirements
Instructors must be available for at least three of the following shifts:
Monday: 3:30/4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Tuesday: 3:30/4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Wednesday: 3:30/4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Thursday: 3:30/4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Sunday: 8:55 AM to 12:00 PM
Compensation & Growth Opportunities
$15.16/hour for training, administrative duties, and setup/cleanup
Starting at $15.50/hour for instructing
Pay increases available based on experience, certifications, leadership, reliability, and commitment to PPA's values
