Little Pikes Swim Camp

Make a big splash at Pikes Peak Athletics!

The only learn to swim program in Colorado Springs for swimmers of all ages, at all stages.

 

Our Little Pikes Swim Camp is the perfect way to boost swim skills through stroke development, water safety competencies, and a wide range of swimming activities and games.

Every day, campers engage in two, 30-minute swim lessons, a 20-minute water safety lesson, and both in and out of water activities and games. Geared toward ages 4-12 years, campers are grouped by skill level and age.

Whether you’re looking for your child to be water safe or sharpen their stroke technique, this is the camp for you!

What your swimmer needs:

  • Large snack and water bottle
  • Two towels and a change of clothes
  • Goggles (please do not send goggles with nose pieces, like snorkel masks)
  • Lunch (for full day campers)

Enrollment

  • Summer Camp enrollment is weekly.
  • Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and Winter Break camp enrollment is daily.
  • Registration is available from open date until capacity is reached.

PPA FUNdamentals Camp 

Monday, July 7 – Thursday, July 10, 2025 | 9:00am – 3:00pm at PPATC 

Welcome to the ultimate swim adventure for young swimmers! At our FUNdamentals CAMP, we combine fun and learning to create an unforgettable experience in the pool. Athletes will dive into a world of excitement with engaging drills, interactive games, and expert instruction tailored to their age and skill level. Each day is packed with activities that foster teamwork, build confidence, and enhance swimming techniques. From splash-filled competitions to creative swim challenges, our camp ensures every athlete leaves with new skills, friendships, and a love for the water. Let’s make a splash and turn summer into FAST & FUN swimming!

  • Ages 11 years and younger, Groups 1 and 2 at PPA or on another competitive swim team.
  • All swimmers registered two weeks prior to camp will receive a t-shirt and water bottle.
  • Snacks provided, swimmers must bring own lunch.
  • Limited to 40 swimmers.
  • Price is $475; payment plan is available if needed.

PPA Competitive Camp 

Monday, June 23 – Friday, June 27, 2025 | 8:30am – 4:30pm at PPATC 

Dive deep into a week of unparalleled swimming immersion with the PPA Competitive CAMP! Connect your why with the PPA way through meticulously detailed video analysis, comprehensive instruction, and expertly crafted drill sequences. Elevate your performance by understanding the intricacies of every stroke, perfecting your technique and pushing your training limits. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or aspiring champion, this intensive week is designed to bring out the best in you. Get ready to push your limits and swim towards success!

  • Available for PPA swimmers in Groups 3 and 4 and Non-PPA swimmers 12 – 15 years old.
  • All swimmers registered two weeks prior to camp will receive a t-shirt and water bottle.
  • Snacks provided, swimmers must bring own lunch.
  • Limited to 50 swimmers.
  • Price is $565 and increases May 1; payment plan available if needed.

USAT will be hosting Youth Triathlon Clinics at Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center:

Be prepared to help! This American Red Cross blended learning and in-person class trains participants on how to respond to and prepare for emergencies, both in and out of the water. This certification also opens career opportunities in the Aquatics Industry.

Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center (PPATC)
Lifeguard/First Aid/AED/CPR Certification | $325

Must be 15 years old to register.

Prerequisite Requirements for Lifeguard Certification R.24

American Red Cross requires participants to successfully complete the following prerequisites, to receive a certification. Refunds will not be issued to participants who do not successfully complete all course prerequisites and course completion requirements, according to the American Red Cross standards. Please make sure you can complete the following course prerequisites and course completion requirements before you attend class.

Students who are unable to meet the prerequisite requirements may still be eligible to obtain CPR certification (provided they complete all requirements and pass the final CPR exam).

American Red Cross Lifeguard R.24 Prerequisite 1:

  • Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back/side is not permitted)
  • Maintain position at the surface for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
  • Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination.

American Red Cross Lifeguard R.24 Prerequisite 2:

Complete a timed event within 100 seconds:

    • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive to a depth of 7 – 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
    • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out.
    • Exit without steps or ladder.

A combination of classroom time, in-water shadowing, and mock swimming lessons will have you confident in teaching swimming lessons to swimmers of all ages and abilities! Learn the ins and outs of swim instruction with seasoned swim professionals – Jaecie and Connie have a combination of over 50 year’s experience!

Completion of this course guarantees an interview with our Lesson Program Management Team and fulfills all instructor training requirements.

  • 14-15 year olds are eligible to volunteer during all swim camps bolstering their experience (many schools/programs accept this as community volunteer hours too).
  • 16+ are eligible for employment at Pikes Peak Athletics.

Certified Pool Operator & Inspector Certification

CERTIFIED POOL & SPA OPERATOR® (CPO®) CERTIFICATION

The Certified Pool & Spa Operator® (CPO®) certification program is the world’s leading education and certification program for keeping pools safer and keeping them open. Over 650,000 students have been trained since 1973. CPO® certification provides individuals with the knowledge, techniques, and skills required for proper pool operations. Certification is required in Colorado and 24 other states for professional pool operators, and it’s a great way for recreational pool owners to expand their knowledge!

You will learn to:

  • Reduce risks in and around the water.
  • Prevent drowning, recreational water illness, suction entrapment, evisceration, diving accidents, electrocutions, chemical hazards, and slips and falls.
  • Address regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain disinfection and water balance.
  • Manage water problems.
  • Perform troubleshooting, chemical testing, and record keeping.
  • Manage chemical feed.
  • Utilize automation and technology.

As a Certified CPO®, you will:

  • Receive a 5-year CPO® Certification.
  • Receive an electronic CPO® Certificate and wallet card plus hard copy.
  • Receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • Have access to supportive career growth with additional service and maintenance certifications.
  • Receive a CPO® Badge you can add to your social media and email signature that allows the industry to verify you are current and certified with PHTA.
  • Join communities online to better support your efforts in the industry.

CERTIFIED POOL & SPA INSPECTOR® (CPI®) CERTIFICATION

The Certified Pool & Spa Inspector® (CPI®) certification program creates a foundation for health officials and pool operators to conduct pool and spa inspections to support the assurance of a sanitary, healthy, and safe environment for staff and patrons of public swimming pools and spas.

Through the CPI® training course (certification requirement) and passing of the exam, the credential holder will have the ability to:

  • Understand the basis for code requirements and why a violation is a public health hazard.
  • Perform an inspection of the pool and spa area.
  • Evaluate swimming pool operation and maintenance.
  • Assess the circulation system and its components.
  • Evaluate a facility for VGB Act compliance.
  • Recognize the elements of spa inspections.
  • Understand recreational water illnesses.
  • Maintain supervision and operator records.
  • Recognize the elements of aquatic play features.
  • Understand swimming pool design standards and their impact on public health.

This unique offering:

  • Boosts swimmer’s skills by attending the same class multiple times a week
  • Helps you plan around other sports or travel but keep swimming
  • Doesn’t auto-enroll, allowing you to pick and choose which series your kiddos attend
  • Is available on a seasonal basis allowing you to prepare for summer or take advantage of school breaks

Regular Group Lesson Rate: $110/4-lesson series
4:1 swimmer to instructor ratio

Mini Group Lesson Rate: $180/4-lesson series
2:1 swimmer to instructor ratio

Spring, Thanksgiving and Winter Break Series are 3-4 lessons over 1-week.
April-July Series are 2 lessons/week for 2-weeks.

Series lessons do not auto-enroll, be sure to enroll for each series you wish to attend!

 

The first swimmer enrolled in a series lesson chooses both the level and whether or not the class will be a Regular (4:1) or Mini (2:1) group lesson! 

Classes titled “CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL” are still available for a first swimmer to make these choices. Classes titled with their level have an initial enrollment and are open for enrollment to swimmers of the same level until capacity is reached.
